The EPA Long-Term 2 Enhanced Surface Water Treatment Rule (LT2ESWTR or LT2)  will require utilities greater than 10,000 to sample once or twice a month for Cryptosporidium for twenty four months.  Based on the result of the monitoring the utility will be assigned a “bin” and a required level of treatment.  A utility might be required to upgrade treatment based on the results of the tests.
